CHANGING PEOPLE CHANGING DOGS
Seminar by Dee Ganley
- APRIL 20th (an evening of Dee’s new DVD, games and pizza
eating)
- APRIL 21st & 22nd ( full days
Some of the subjects Dee will cover over the weekend:-
- Canine behaviour modification techniques to help reactive dogs
overcome their fear of people, other dogs and their environment.
- Exploring the skills needed to modify, and hopefully change,
the emotional responses of YOU and your dog to develop the confidence
and self control that you will both need to build happy, rewarding
relationships together.
- The specific needs of puppies — all they need to learn,
and when, i.e. ‘rules of seven’, fear stages, gentle
introductions and truly socializing with people / dogs.
- Using a positive approach to teach all dogs good manners, e.g.
lead walking, to come when called, wait calmly, overcome food guarding,
jumping up, etc.
- Lots of ideas on how to train/practise skills through fun and
games, e.g. scent games, control games, tricks, musical drill,
etc.
Saturday
to focus on working with difficult dogs either privately or in class
situation
How to set up for success Management
- tools for owner / handler For instructor/ teacher How to change
the dogs emotional responses to other dogs or scary stimulus including
other humans
- Identifying stress in your dog PPP
- Identifying the different faces/Expressions of aggression/fear
responses where and how to use behavior modification techniques
Sunday
Proper Socialization Techniques and strategies Using Positive approaches
- Help for food bowl aggression or object
- resource guarding
Teaching self control skills
- NO Jumping, plant butt on the ground when humans approach
- Loose lead walking
- Fun and games to play that help to accomplish this goal
