Hi Shirley!
Just to let you know of the successes I have had recently
with a Hoody purchased from Shirley.
Tipp is very nervous of hands, men, sticks,
hats, children, - well almost everything! I regularly have my
dogs checked over by a "Bone Manipulator" to ensure
they are not carrying any injuries and are fit for "dancing". Tipp
has always been a big problem - holding him with his collar
and also muzzle but obviously very scary for him to have
a large man approach or even be stroked. My bone expert
has always been willing to try and check Tipp even though
its not a nice experience for anyone!
So the Hoody arrived and I fixed it into
a clip collar for ease of putting on and
off. David my husband
held Tipp in his arms and my bone man then walked into the
room in silence - he was able to gently check him over -
the 1st time in 4 years - he had a hip slightly out of alignment
which was easily put right without much of a grumble.
He says that Tipp was wonderfully relaxed
which helped him do his work.
I then tried it on another dog which had
come along which is also very worried by
strangers and is muzzled for
treatment. As soon as the Hoody was in place,
the dog instantly relaxed. It was brilliant.
So another Hoody purchased for the bone manipulator for daily
use. I'll let you know how it goes!!
Thanks Shirley

Hi Shirley,
Thank you so much for telling me about Canine Lullabies
CD and Hoody
Dax finds travelling in car and campervan very uncomfortable
and he can get fearful in many road conditions, has panicked
on motorways a few times in the van. We were at our wits
end after trying different things, even changed the van.
We thought that we would have to give up the holidays and
days out that we thought the dogs would love, ie taking your
home with you. Leia loves travelling just wish Dax did.
The CD and Hoody has helped no end, he now relaxes most of
the time in the car, hardly ever shivering, but occasionally
needing the CD playing.
Even in the Camper he improved, I feel the Hoody took away
a lot of the fear
and the CD relaxed him, but he still never sleeps travelling
even all day.
We therefore have to take a lot of breaks for him. We have
great hopes for
things to improve more in the van this year, I am expecting
a couple of
steps backwards, as we have only used it once in the last two
months.
The Lullabies also worked very well last Nov 5th, which sounded
like the 3rd world war down here!!!! Thank you so much for
all your help and support ,you are an angel.
Grateful licks from Dax (ugg!!)

Dee
Ganley’s Changing People Changing Dogs Seminar
Stockton on the Forest 20, 21 22 April 2007
This seminar
was another of Dee Ganley’s
fascinating insights into understanding canine reactivity
and how to deal with it in a positive, non-threatening way
that the dog can understand.
The three
day course was a combination of a presentation by Dee accompanied
with slides and video from her training centre in America,
a hands-on workshop with owners working their reactive dogs
under Dee’s instruction and guidance followed by
a questions and answers session. The various reasons
for dogs becoming reactive was discussed and management strategies
to deal with these were covered. We finished the three
day course with fun and games with the dogs and everyone left
smiling and looking forward to the next one.
It was a learning experience throughout and the friendly welcome
from the organising team, comfortable venue and excellent catering
all made for a thoroughly enjoyable and thought provoking three
days. |
